We have been involved in a great project in Church Stretton this year. In the summer we were commissioned to turn a neglected field of 20 years into a wild meadow come managed site with secure stock fencing. In addition, we were to plant lots of trees and a countryside mixed hedgerow. This is likely to be an ongoing maintenance task but the first large task was to remove the 8ft high dense bramble that covered the upper half of the field. This was duly done with the help of a cheerful local with his big tractor and topper. This totally transformed the site and opened up the trees and following planning consent we then managed the trees on the site and removed the dead ones and self sown Sycamore – which will be a future Coppice area. The secure fencing was then undertaken – which was a tough ask as the gradient in parts were a minimum of a 1:3 gradient! We are now at the stage of start of the replanting of a hedgerow around the perimeter and approx 33 half standard Trees. It has been a tremendous project so far and we have achieved a lot in just over 4 months. We will be updating details once the planting has been completed.
